Yoga Therapy
In the spring of 2024, I started a certification program accredited by the International Association of Yoga Therapists. I'm learning about 'pure' movements, focusing on natural, efficient, and pain-free movement patterns. I'm building my skills to guide individuals in becoming aware of their movement habits and to help create new patterns that allow for more freedom of movement and ease in their bodies.

Many people struggle with persistent pain, tension, or discomfort daily. However, significant progress is within reach by focusing on movements and movement patterns. Yoga therapy, with its emphasis on 'pure' movement, can lead to improved flexibility, reduced pain or tension, increased strength, and better balance. We will focus on moving the body parts meant to be moving and settling down the parts that should not be moving. This approach allows you to gain a greater awareness, and when these things work in harmony, the body moves better. These outcomes are achievable because tissues can change. With guidance, you may experience a significant improvement in your comfort and mobility, empowering you to take control of your healing process.

These private yoga therapy sessions are conducted online via Zoom. I'm seeking six individuals willing to commit to six one-hour private Zoom sessions during November-January. After identifying your goals during the first session, we will explore movements and help you discover movement or compensation patterns contributing to your pain, tension, or discomfort. In each session, we will work on increasing body awareness. You may notice your movements shifting toward more ease. Remember, it's a process; new habits take time to develop, and we will work together every step of the way.

Kendra's Austin Osteo Support Group participants can attend the first six yoga therapy sessions for free; additional sessions are available for $60.00/hour.

Also, early next year, I will teach an 8 week Steady Steps™ - Better Balance Workshop as part of my Yoga Therapy Certification. Please let me know if you are interested, and I'll send you the schedule when it becomes available.

Yoga is a practical and accessible tool that can help us navigate life's twists and turns with increased self-knowledge, less stress, greater confidence, and resilience. It's not just a practice; it's a journey of self-care and personal growth.

Yoga is a practice that everyone can embrace and find joy in. It's not about contorting your body into impossible shapes or wearing trendy outfits. Instead, it's about fostering self-awareness and comfort in your body. Yoga calls us to fully engage in each moment, whether practicing a series of postures or resting in stillness. The breath becomes our anchor, returning us to the here and now when our minds wander or our bodies feel resistance. It's all about developing resilience. Resilience in yoga isn't just about physical endurance or flexibility; it's about cultivating an inner strength to adapt, recover, and grow through discomfort and uncertainty. Yoga helps develop a calm mind, compassionate heart, and general well-being through movement, stillness, breath, and curiosity. It's a practice that welcomes all, regardless of experience or ability.
